Transportation officials will temporarily shut down a key freeway connector in San Diego this weekend to allow for construction activities, according to Caltrans.
The ramp connecting eastbound State Route 54 to northbound Interstate 805 is scheduled to close for two hours on Saturday, October 17, beginning at 3 a.m. The closure is expected to last until 5 a.m.
Drivers heading east on SR-54 who need to reach northbound I-805 will need to use an alternate route during the closure window. The recommended detour involves taking the southbound I-805 connector instead, exiting at Bonita Road, making a left turn, and then accessing the on-ramp for northbound I-805.
Caltrans urged drivers passing through the construction zone to remain alert and watch for workers and equipment. Officials noted that the planned work schedule could be adjusted depending on weather, traffic incidents, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Real-time updates on traffic conditions, lane closures, and road work throughout the region are available through the state's online traffic information system.
