Vista will hold its next citywide election on November 3, 2026, when residents will cast ballots for the city's top leadership position and two district council seats. The election coincides with statewide races scheduled for that day.
The positions up for election include the mayor's office along with council representatives for District 1 and District 4. These municipal contests take place every two years in Vista.
Residents who meet eligibility requirements can register through the county registrar's office or the state's online portal. The deadline to register falls on October 19, 2026, though those who miss that date can still use conditional registration services offered by the county. To participate, individuals must be at least 18 years old, hold U.S. citizenship, and reside in California.
The city will operate two polling locations for the election. One site at the Morris B. Vance Community Room on Civic Center Drive opens October 24 and remains available through election day. A second location at the Gloria McClellan Senior Center on Vale Terrace Drive will be accessible starting October 31 through November 3. Additional voting sites and ballot collection boxes throughout the county will be listed on the registrar's website.
Voters returning ballots by mail must ensure they are postmarked no later than election day, with the county registrar's office accepting them until November 10. Those delivering ballots in person must submit them before polls close on November 3.
