The City of Vista will dedicate four days next week to helping seniors reduce their risk of falls through a series of educational programs and fitness activities at the Gloria McClellan Senior Center.

Running from Monday, September 21, through Thursday, September 24, the Fall Prevention Week events will take place in the Park Terrace Cafe located at the senior center on 1400 Vale Terrace Drive. The programming aims to provide older residents with practical tools for improving both physical strength and mental well-being.

Scheduled activities include a bingo session with fall prevention education, a mindfulness workshop involving origami and meditation centered on butterfly transformation, and an introduction to the facility's fitness room. The fitness room orientation will teach participants how to build muscle and enhance balance, along with guidance on developing exercise routines they can perform at home.

City officials said the week's emphasis on fall prevention will also give seniors an opportunity to meet instructors for upcoming fitness classes at the center. Additional information about senior programming in Vista is available through the city's senior services department.
