Vista residents looking to enrich their gardens can take advantage of a twice-monthly giveaway program that provides free mulch and compost materials to the public.
The program, a partnership between the City of Vista and EDCO, runs on the first and third Friday through Sunday of each month. Materials are available from sunrise to sunset at an empty parcel near the intersection of Vale Terrace Drive and Williamston Street.
Participants should come prepared to handle the work themselves, as the event operates on a self-service basis. Residents must load and transport materials using their own equipment and vehicles.
City officials note that the giveaway may be called off if rainy or stormy weather moves through the area. Those interested in additional details can contact the Public Works Department at (760) 639-6177 or visit the city's dedicated webpage for the program.
