Baseball fans heading to watch the San Diego Padres take on the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Division Series can skip downtown traffic and parking headaches by riding the trolley, according to transit officials.

The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System announced it will boost service for the playoff games scheduled at Petco Park on October 6 and 7. Trains on the UC San Diego Blue Line, Orange Line, and Green Line will run at least every 15 minutes before and after each matchup, with all three routes stopping within walking distance of the ballpark.

Transit officials said fans can leave their vehicles at no-cost parking facilities located throughout the trolley network and ride into the downtown area. Payment options include tapping a credit card or mobile device at station validators for a $3 one-way fare, or using the PRONTO mobile application loaded with at least $6 for round-trip travel. Each passenger must have their own form of payment.

The regional transit system carries more than 250,000 passengers on an average weekday across 93 bus routes and four trolley lines serving 10 municipalities and unincorporated areas. The agency transported over 81 million riders during fiscal year 2026 and recently received recognition as North America's top public transit system in its size category from the American Public Transportation Association.
