Local officials and federal health authorities are preparing to conduct a second round of community health assessments focused on the prolonged sewage and contamination crisis affecting the Tijuana River Valley.

The County is partnering with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to deploy another Community Assessment for Public Health Emergency Response, known as CASPER. This follow-up survey aims to measure how the persistent pollution problem has affected residents' health in the area.

The assessment represents a continued effort to monitor the public health consequences of the cross-border sewage issue, which has affected communities near the Tijuana River. The CASPER methodology is typically used to rapidly evaluate health needs and concerns during or after emergency situations.
