San Diego County officials have greenlit a new initiative aimed at better understanding and preventing electric bicycle accidents across the region.
The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to establish a regional e-Bike Injury Warning System. The program is designed to rapidly collect and analyze data on electric bicycle crashes throughout the county.
According to the approved plan, the system will track three key pieces of information: the locations where e-bike injuries take place, demographic details about those who are hurt, and the specific types of electric bicycles involved in accidents.
The goal of the warning system is to identify high-risk areas and patterns more quickly, which could help officials take preventive action and improve safety measures for e-bike riders across San Diego County.
