San Diego County has announced that its Cool Zone initiative will now be available to residents during all months of the year, marking a significant expansion of the heat safety program.
The program, which has operated for several years in the county, previously ran on a seasonal basis. Under the new arrangement, designated Cool Zone sites will remain accessible regardless of the time of year.
These locations provide residents with air-conditioned spaces where they can seek relief from high temperatures. The decision to extend the program beyond its traditional operating period reflects ongoing concerns about heat-related health risks in the region.
