California Department of Transportation crews will shut down a key freeway connector in San Diego for several hours next week to complete striping work.
The ramp linking westbound State Route 52 to northbound Interstate 5 will be closed overnight on September 15, beginning at 8 p.m. and continuing until 5 a.m. the following morning.
Drivers attempting to reach northbound I-5 from SR-52 during the closure will need to use an alternate route. The detour requires motorists to take the southbound I-5 exit at Clairemont Drive, make a left turn, and then proceed to northbound I-5.
Transportation officials are urging travelers in the area to remain alert for construction workers and equipment operating in the work zone. The planned closure could be postponed or adjusted if weather conditions, traffic collisions, or other work-related issues arise.
