State highway officials plan to temporarily shut down a major freeway connector in San Diego Thursday night to complete signage installation work.
The ramp linking northbound Interstate 5 to southbound State Route 75 will be inaccessible beginning at 8 p.m. on September 24, with the closure expected to last until 4 a.m. the following morning, according to Caltrans.
Drivers heading north on I-5 who need to access southbound SR-75 will need to use an alternate route during the closure period. The detour requires motorists to exit at the 19th Street/J Street off-ramp, make a left turn onto J Street, and then merge back onto southbound I-5 before reaching the southbound SR-75 connector.
Transportation authorities are urging drivers to remain alert in construction zones and watch for highway workers and equipment that may be operating in the area. Officials noted that the closure schedule could be modified if weather conditions, traffic incidents, or other work-related issues arise.
