The California Department of Transportation has announced it will temporarily shut down a major freeway connector on two separate nights later this month and in early November to complete necessary roadwork.
The ramp linking southbound Interstate 5 to eastbound State Route 52 will be inaccessible during overnight hours on October 29 and November 8. Both closures are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. and remain in effect until 5 a.m. the following morning.
Drivers who typically use that connector will need to follow a detour route. The alternate path requires exiting at Clairemont Drive, making a left turn onto that street, then turning left again to access northbound I-5. From there, motorists can take the northbound connector to reach eastbound SR-52.
Transportation officials are advising travelers to remain alert in construction zones and watch for workers and equipment on the roadway. The planned closure dates could be adjusted if weather conditions, traffic collisions, or other operational factors require schedule changes.
