State transportation officials will temporarily shut down a major freeway connector in San Diego for several consecutive nights beginning late this month to accommodate construction activity.

The ramp connecting westbound State Route 94 to northbound Interstate 5 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. each night starting Sunday, September 27, and continuing through Thursday, October 1. Caltrans crews will be installing concrete barriers during the closure period.

Drivers who need to access northbound Interstate 5 during the closure will need to follow a detour route. The recommended alternate path is to continue traveling west on SR-94, then take the 25th Street exit and proceed directly onto F Street, which provides access to the northbound I-5 entrance ramp.

Caltrans is urging drivers in the area to remain alert for construction workers and heavy equipment that may be operating near travel lanes. Officials noted that the planned work schedule could be adjusted if weather conditions, traffic collisions, or construction-related issues require changes.

Real-time traffic updates, including information about road closures and lane restrictions throughout the region, are available through the state's online traffic monitoring system.
