State transportation officials announced plans to temporarily close a key freeway connector in San Diego overnight on October 21 to allow workers to complete concrete barrier installations.

The closure will affect drivers traveling westbound on State Route 94 who intend to merge onto northbound Interstate 5. Caltrans scheduled the work from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning.

Drivers seeking northbound I-5 access during the closure period should continue westbound on SR-94, then take the 25th Street exit. From there, motorists can proceed directly on F Street to reach the northbound I-5 entrance ramp, according to the agency.

Transportation officials cautioned travelers to remain alert for highway workers and construction equipment operating in the work zone. The planned closure may be postponed or adjusted depending on weather conditions, traffic incidents, or other construction-related factors.
