The California Department of Transportation has announced overnight closures affecting State Route 905 and its connection to Interstate 5 on four separate dates in September. The closures are scheduled for the nights of September 9, 10, 14, and 21, with work taking place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night.
The highway agency will close both the westbound SR-905 connector and mainline sections to complete striping operations. During the closures, drivers will need to use alternate routes involving surface streets including Coronado Avenue, Hollister Street, and Tocayo Avenue.
Drivers traveling north on I-5 will need to exit at Coronado Avenue, make a left turn, then turn left again onto Hollister Street before heading toward Tocayo Avenue and SR-905. Those heading south on I-5 will follow a similar route but turn right initially onto Coronado Avenue before proceeding on the same path.
Motorists using westbound SR-905 will face more complex detours depending on their destination. Those heading to southbound I-5 or Tocayo Avenue will need to take the northbound I-5 connector first before exiting at Coronado Avenue and following designated surface streets.
Transportation officials reminded drivers to exercise caution in work zones and remain alert for highway workers and construction equipment. The scheduled work may be postponed due to weather conditions, traffic incidents, or other operational considerations.
