The California Department of Transportation has announced an overnight closure of a key freeway connector in San Diego next week to accommodate electrical system upgrades.
The ramp linking westbound State Route 905 to northbound Interstate 5 will be inaccessible to drivers from 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, until 5 a.m. the following morning while crews perform electrical work.
Drivers who normally use this route will need to follow a detour. The alternate path involves taking the southbound I-5 connector, exiting at Dairy Mart Road, making a left turn onto Dairy Mart Road, then turning right onto West San Ysidro Boulevard, where motorists can access the northbound I-5 on-ramp.
Transportation officials are urging drivers to remain alert when passing through work zones and to watch for construction personnel and equipment on the roadway. The planned closure could be rescheduled if weather conditions, traffic collisions, or other construction-related issues arise.
