State transportation officials have announced a temporary overnight closure of a key freeway connector in San Diego for maintenance activities. The ramp linking northbound Interstate 5 to southbound State Route 75 will be inaccessible to drivers starting at 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, and continuing until 4 a.m. the following morning.
The California Department of Transportation said the closure is necessary to complete signage installation work. During the shutdown, drivers will need to use an alternate route to reach their destination.
Motorists traveling north on I-5 who need to access southbound SR-75 should plan to exit at 19th Street or J Street. From there, drivers should turn left onto J Street and then merge onto the southbound I-5 on-ramp, which will provide access to the southbound SR-75 connector.
Transportation authorities are urging drivers to remain alert in construction zones and watch for workers and equipment that may be operating in the area. Officials noted that the scheduled work could be postponed or modified depending on weather conditions, traffic incidents, or other unforeseen circumstances.
