A key freeway connector in San Diego will be inaccessible to drivers during overnight hours for nearly a week as the California Department of Transportation performs scheduled maintenance work.
The ramp linking southbound Interstate 5 to eastbound State Route 52 will be closed each night starting Sunday, October 4, and continuing through Thursday, October 8. The closure will be in effect from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. each evening to allow crews to complete guardrail work.
Drivers heading south on I-5 who need to access eastbound SR-52 will need to follow a detour route. The alternate path requires motorists to exit at Clairemont Drive, make a left turn onto Clairemont Drive, then turn left again to enter northbound I-5, and finally use the northbound I-5 connector to reach eastbound SR-52.
State transportation officials are urging drivers to remain cautious when traveling through the work zone and stay alert for construction workers and equipment operating in the area. The planned schedule could change if weather conditions, traffic incidents, or other work-related issues arise.
