The northbound connector ramp linking Interstate 5 to State Route 163 will be shut down overnight Wednesday for maintenance work, according to the California Department of Transportation.

The closure is scheduled to run from 8 p.m. on October 7 until 5 a.m. the following morning while crews install signage in the area.

Drivers heading north on I-5 who need to access SR-163 will need to follow an alternate route during the closure. The detour directs motorists to continue toward the B Street exit, make a left turn onto B Street, then turn right onto 11th Avenue before accessing the northbound SR-163 entrance ramp.

Transportation officials are urging drivers traveling through the work zone to remain alert and watch for highway workers and construction equipment that may be in motion. The scheduled work could be postponed or rescheduled depending on weather conditions, traffic incidents, or other construction-related factors.

Real-time traffic updates and information about road closures are available through Caltrans' online mapping system.
