California transportation officials plan to temporarily close a major freeway connector in San Diego next week to perform signage installation work.

The ramp linking northbound State Route 75 to northbound Interstate 5 will be shut down on October 8 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., according to Caltrans.

Drivers seeking to travel north on I-5 during the closure will need to use an alternate route. Officials recommend staying on SR-75 toward the southbound I-5 connector, then taking the National Avenue/27th Street exit. From there, motorists should turn right on National Avenue and then right again to access the northbound I-5 on-ramp.

Caltrans urged drivers to remain alert for workers and construction vehicles if traveling through the area during the overnight hours. The agency noted that the planned closure could be rescheduled depending on weather, traffic incidents, or other factors related to the project.
