County leaders marked a significant advancement in behavioral health services with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new treatment facility in National City. The center represents a $29 million investment in addressing substance use disorders in the South Bay region.

The facility will serve as the county's first location to offer both addiction treatment and recuperative care for adults within a single building. This integrated approach marks a departure from the traditional model of housing these services separately.

Officials anticipate the center will begin accepting patients this fall. The Substance Use Residential & Treatment Services center is expected to expand access to care for residents struggling with substance use disorders in the area.
