Construction has officially begun on a new affordable housing complex in La Mesa, with local and county officials marking the occasion at a groundbreaking ceremony held at the Spring Street transit station.
The development, known as Spring View Apartments, will provide 147 units of affordable housing on a site immediately adjacent to the San Diego Trolley Line. The project represents an effort to integrate affordable residential options with public transportation infrastructure.
The groundbreaking event brought together representatives from county government as well as local community leaders to commemorate the start of construction on the transit-oriented development.
