Transportation officials will shut down a key highway connector in San Diego's East County for overnight work early this week. The ramp connecting southbound Highway 67 to westbound Highway 52 will be inaccessible during two overnight periods for bridge maintenance.

The closure will take effect from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on both Sunday, November 1, and Monday, November 2. Caltrans crews will be conducting bridge work during those hours.

Drivers heading south on Highway 67 who need to reach westbound Highway 52 will need to use an alternate route. Officials recommend taking the connector to westbound Interstate 8, then traveling north on Highway 125, and finally using the connectors to reach either direction of Highway 52.

Caltrans is urging drivers to remain alert in work zones and watch for both highway workers and construction equipment that may be in motion. The agency noted that the planned work schedule could be modified if weather conditions, traffic incidents, or other construction-related issues arise.
