A newly renovated playground at Greg Rogers Elementary School officially opened its doors to students last week, offering an enhanced space for recreation and social interaction during the school day.
The Chula Vista Elementary School District held a celebration on October 16 to mark the completion of the project, which was paid for through Measure VV funds. District administrators, families, and community members joined students for the event recognizing the milestone.
According to Superintendent Dr. Reyes, the school was chosen as part of the initial phase of a broader effort to modernize playground facilities across all district campuses. The improvement project represents the district's larger plan to enhance recreational equipment at multiple schools.
The redesigned play area was built to accommodate children of varying abilities, giving all students opportunities to remain physically active and engage in creative play during breaks from classroom instruction. District officials emphasized that quality play environments contribute to student wellness and help establish important foundations for academic achievement.
Students at Greg Rogers Elementary now have access to the new facilities during recess and lunch periods, providing additional opportunities for physical activity and peer interaction throughout the school day.
