Local transportation officials have finished a series of roadway enhancements aimed at protecting students during the busy back-to-school season, with at least one project in El Cajon reaching completion last month.

According to county officials, the improvements come at a critical time when streets surrounding educational facilities experience increased activity from pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles as classes resume throughout the area.

The upgrades are part of a broader county initiative focused on maintaining high-quality road infrastructure that prioritizes safety for all users, officials said. Additional safety projects are currently underway at other locations near schools across the region.
