Chula Vista officials are recruiting volunteers for the city's 23rd annual cleanup day, scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026. The event, organized jointly by the city and the South Bay Sustainable Communities Network, will run from 8 a.m. until noon and aims to bring together residents for neighborhood improvement projects.

Organizers hope to attract more than 400 participants for the effort, which will focus on removing graffiti, picking up trash, and improving the appearance of streets, parks and other public areas throughout Chula Vista. Last year's event drew over 500 volunteers who cleared thousands of pounds of debris and helped clean up residential areas, waterways and canyon spaces across the community.

Participants will gather at the Otay Recreation Center, located at 3554 Main Street, where they will check in, attend a brief safety briefing, and receive supplies before heading to their assigned work areas. Anyone interested in volunteering must complete advance registration and sign a liability waiver through the city's website.

Volunteers should plan to provide their own transportation and come prepared with work gloves, a water bottle, and any food they might need during the event. Organizers recommend wearing suitable clothing and durable footwear. Students can earn community service hours by participating.

Those with questions about registration or other details can reach the city's Environmental Services Division by email at environmentalservices@chulavistaca.gov or by phone at 619-691-5122.
