The Chula Vista Elementary School District is implementing safety measures in response to elevated temperatures affecting the region through the morning of October 8, 2026.

District officials announced that all schools within CVESD will operate on rainy-day schedules during the heat advisory period. Under this arrangement, students will remain indoors for physical education classes, recess periods, and lunch.

School staff members will actively monitor students throughout the day and provide extra water breaks and rest periods as needed to prevent heat-related health issues.

The district is also requesting that families help prepare their children for the warmer conditions during school hours. Officials emphasized that collaboration between schools and families is essential to ensuring student safety during the extended period of high temperatures.
