The ground floor of the Carlsbad City Library Learning Center will remain inaccessible to patrons at least through the end of October due to unexpected maintenance problems, city officials announced this week.

While the first floor is closed, visitors can still reach the second floor by entering through the main lobby. That upper level is currently offering a limited selection of programs and services during the closure period.

City maintenance crews are actively working to address the facilities issue and restore full access to the building as soon as possible, according to the announcement. Officials have not yet provided a specific timeline for when the entire learning center will reopen.

In the meantime, residents seeking library services can visit two alternative locations: the main Carlsbad City Library or the Georgina Cole Library at 1250 Carlsbad Village Drive. Patrons can also call 442-339-2049 for assistance or check the library system's online events calendar for current programming information.

City officials said they will release additional details, including a projected reopening date, once that information becomes available. Residents can sign up for email notifications or follow the city's social media channels for updates.
