Municipal facilities throughout Carlsbad will shut down Monday, October 12, as the city observes Indigenous Peoples' Day, officials announced.
The closure affects city administrative offices, all public libraries, community centers, and the Senior Center. Cultural and recreational venues including the Cannon Art Gallery, the city sculpture garden, Alga Norte Aquatic Center, and Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park will also be unavailable to the public during the holiday.
Residents can expect regular trash and recycling collection with no delays despite the holiday. Emergency services will continue normal operations throughout the day. The city has also suspended street sweeping enforcement on the holiday.
Those relying on public transit should check gonctd.com or dial 5-1-1 for modified holiday schedules. City officials indicated they will publish detailed service information roughly one week before each upcoming 2026 holiday.
