State transportation officials will shut down sections of the Interstate 15 and State Route 56 interchange on three separate nights in early November to complete striping work, according to Caltrans.
The closures are scheduled for the evenings of November 1, 2, and 5, with work taking place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night. Different portions of the interchange will be affected each evening, requiring drivers to follow detour routes through nearby surface streets including Poway Road, Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard, and Carmel Mountain Road.
On the first night, drivers traveling from westbound SR-56 to southbound I-15 will need to detour, while the second night will impact those heading from eastbound SR-56 toward I-15. The final closure on November 5 will affect northbound I-15 motorists attempting to reach the SR-56 connector, including those using the express lanes.
Caltrans is advising motorists to remain alert for construction workers and equipment if traveling through the area. Officials noted that the work timeline could be adjusted due to weather, traffic incidents, or other unforeseen circumstances. Message signs will be posted in advance of the closures to alert drivers.
